It’s easy to forget that only back in 2007, the Galapagos Islands were on the UNESCO endangered list. Since then, the ecosystem has been controlled very tightly and has now been removed from this list. That being said, mass tourism and the introduction of outside species  will always threaten these islands, introduced species like Rats, Cattle, Goats, Ants and even Mosquitos are very carefully monitored. Tourism is very carefully controlled and this is why its vital to travel with operators that support sustainable tourism.

Here is a little sample of the underwater life around the islands.

Yesterday Sam Hirsh from TripQuipment Travel Store in Falmouth took a moment out of his busy day to give me a few pointers on packing, and other travel related odds and ends. I loved his recommendation on the travel pillow! I came away with some great gear that I know I will put them to good use.
If you’re in the area, you have to stop in and say Hi. You will be glad the you did.
